January is School Board Recognition Month, and Godley Independent School District is proud to honor its Board of Trustees for their service, leadership and commitment to the students, staff and families of Godley ISD.
The theme for the 2026 celebration, “Our Future Is Public,” highlights the vital role public education plays in preparing students to become productive citizens and future leaders, as well as the collaboration among school boards, educators, parents and communities to support student success.
Godley ISD trustees are Craig Stevenson, president; Terrie Goodloe, vice president; Christa Heiner, secretary; Kayla Lain; Simone Mabry; Jeff Neal; and Jamie Roy. Each trustee is elected by the community to represent local values and make decisions that put students first.
“Our school board members are volunteers who give countless hours to serving this district,” Superintendent Dr. Rich Dear said. “They carry the responsibility of setting the vision for our schools, ensuring strong governance and making difficult decisions that impact students today and for years to come. Their focus is always on what is best for kids.”
School board members work closely with parents, educators and community partners to establish a shared vision for student learning, oversee district operations and advocate for public education at the local and state levels. Their leadership helps ensure the district has a strong foundation to meet the educational needs of all students in an ever-changing world.
“In a time when public education faces both challenges and opportunities, the role of locally elected school board members has never been more important,” Dear said. “Their advocacy, transparency and commitment help ensure our schools remain strong and responsive to our community.”
Dear encouraged parents, staff and community members to take time this month to thank trustees for their service.
“School Board Recognition Month is an opportunity to pause and say thank you,” he said. “Please join us in recognizing our trustees for their dedication to Godley ISD and for their belief in the power and promise of public education.”
