COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri Softball signee Saniya Hill was named a 2023 USA Softball High Performance Program (HPP) Top Performer.
As a Top Performer, she has been selected to the U.S. Junior Women's National Team U-17/18 roster after attending the 2023 HPP National Selection Event Nov. 30-Dec. 3, 2023, at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida.
Hill, a 5-7 infielder from Godley, Texas, inked with Mizzou on Nov. 10 as part of the Tigers' 2024 Signing Day Class.
The 19th ranked player in the 2024 class, according to Extra Inning Softball, Hill holds the all-time batting average (.457) for Godley High School.
Hill is a two-time second-team all-conference selection and was named to the first team as a sophomore. She has compiled a .923 fielding percentage at Godley High School.
She was also included on the 2023 Alliance FastPitch Early Watch List for Juniors on the Rise.
Hill competes for the Texas Glory softball club in McKinney, Texas, which was ranked fifth in the nation by Alliance FastPitch. Hill batted .487 during the 2023 club season.
ABOUT THE HPP NATIONAL SELECTION EVENT
The High Performance Program National Selection Event is an invite-only opportunity for athletes who have advanced through various HPP Identifiers over the last year. These top-players showcased their skills in a series of on-field evaluations and scrimmages in front of the U.S. Junior Women's National Team Selection Committee and HPP evaluators — including U.S. Olympians and professional softball athletes — for a chance to be selected to age-specific U.S. Junior Women's National Team rosters based on scheduled events for the 2024 season.
LOOKING AHEAD
Missouri will open its 2024 campaign at the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic Feb. 9-11 in Clearwater, Florida. The Tigers will face Utah, NC State, South Alabama, Liberty and Clemson over the three-day tournament.
