Three Godley ISD teachers were among recipients of classroom grants from the Johnson/Somervell Counties Retired School Employees Association during a brunch on May 13, 2026, in Cleburne.

Grant recipients included:

  • Billy Dan Chambliess, special education teacher at Godley High School, who received funding to provide snacks and bottled water for students to increase engagement in the campus behavior support classroom.
  • April Cheek, second grade teacher at R.B. Godley Elementary School, who received funding for a trackpad to enhance classroom instruction, student engagement and classroom management.
  • Kristen Jenkins, RTI teacher at Pleasant View Elementary School, who will use grant funds to purchase the Secret Stories phonics program to support small-group instruction.

The classroom grants support innovative educational opportunities and resources that benefit students and teachers in local schools.
