Godley High School swimmer Ryan McFarland was first in the Boys 100 Yard Free at the 4A TISCA North Texas swimming competition at the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Swim Center on December 1-2, 2023.

McFarland won the finals with a time of 53.70 seconds, after advancing from the preliminary round with a finish of 54.77 seconds. Trimming over a second on his time, the GHS sophomore placed first in a field of 31 swimmers entered in the event. 

Competing in the same event as a freshman last year, McFarland finished seventh in a field of 35 with a finals time of 57.01 seconds.  He also won second among 20 swimmers in the Boys 100 Backstroke, posting a time of 1:05:59 - only a second and half behind the event champion.  

The Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association meet featured competitors from 15 schools in Class 4A.

McFarland will next compete at District 5-4A meet in January.
