Godley ISD students were using their best “surgical” skills to tackle reading and math problems during the week of November 18, 2024.
Third graders at Legacy Elementary School were analyzing text features and reading passages to complete their “surgical” assignments. These tasks included “patching up” picture examples of text features, “mending broken bones” by matching text features to the author’s use, answering questions after reading paired passages in a “medical journal,” and “transplanting” text from magazines, newspapers and other publications to find non-fiction text features.
Meanwhile, Godley 6th Grade Campus math classes put their knowledge to the test with several math equations as they completed various “surgeries” as part of lesson review. Working together in small groups, students solved several math problems to save their “patients.”
