Twenty-five Godley ISD fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students were recognized at the GISD school board meeting on May 22, 2023, for engaging in a new talent search program through Baylor University.  

Students participating in the Baylor Talent Identification Program (TIP) were Copen Armstrong, Michael Davis, Cooper Day, Bryson Evans, Chloe Gonzales, Wyatt Goudy, Harland Heath, Kaitlen Henslee, Aubrey Hill, Camden Hinton, Jordyn Hutt, Wyatt Ivy, Landry Kamm, Mahets'i Lorenzo, Perla Munoz, Saul Olivas, Noah Pittman, Navin Riemondi, Gabriella Rodriguez, Kinley Simmons, Piper Sosebee, Ethan Strayer, Makenzie Swiger, Dax Wall and Reagan Wood.

Students honored with the highest scores were:

• 6th Grade:  verbal and math - Jordyn Hutt

• 5th Grade:  verbal - Perla Munoz; math - Harland Heath

• 4th Grade:  verbal and math - Chloe Gonzales

Participants take a college-readiness assessment in an earlier grade than would be customary - a strategy called above-level testing.  The test taken by Godley students is designed for eighth and ninth graders.

Each receives a detailed score report that includes educational recommendations.  Those admitted to the Baylor TIP are eligible to participate in enrichment and accelerated learning opportunities offered by the center, including University for Young People (UYP).

The Baylor TIP is an initiative of the university’s Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development, which has the mission to identify exceptional talent in STEM and the humanities and provide world-class learning opportunities commensurate with students’ exceptional potential.
