Godley High School senior Cristian Pallares earned a spot in the state powerlifting meet at the Class 4A regional competition on March 8, 2025, at Gatesville High School.

The GHS senior placed third in the 123 lb weight class to advance to the state meet set for Friday, Mar. 21 at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene.  Pallares posted a 360 lb squat, a 260 lb bench press and a 350 lb deadlift for a grand total of 970 lbs.

Pallares was among six Wildcats competing in the Region 2 Division 2 meet.  Other regional qualifiers were Alberto Diaz, James Green, Ty Mathis, Wesley Palcic and Langton Roy.  Alternates were Sam Black and Keegan Bohannon.

Two Ladycats, Maloney Hambrice and Mackenzie Stokey, also earned spots in Region 2 Division 2 meets.  Stokey competed in the unequipped contest on Feb. 27 at Del Valle High School, and Hambrice competed in the equipped meet on Feb. 28 at Dublin High School.

Powerlifting is sponsored by the Texas High School Powerlifting Association and Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association.
