Godley ISD students were in the spotlight at the Godley Chamber of Commerce luncheon on December 5, 2024, at the Godley High School Arena.
Attendees were greeted by students representing a variety of areas, including athletics, fine arts and career and technical education. The greeters were cheerleaders, dancers and softball and volleyball players as well as CTE students in agriculture, computer maintenance, health science and welding.
Performing Christmas music for the chamber meeting were both the R.B. Godley Elementary School choir and the Godley High School jazz band.
Godley Serves organizers addressed the gathering to raise awareness about the community service project scheduled for the first Saturday in April. The students are part of the senior project class, which focuses on service with students developing and planning their initiatives through an English IV course using practical skills in technical writing, presentations, interviews and more as they prepare for college and the workforce.
A presentation by Superintendent Dr. Rich Dear and Director of Career and Technical Education Dr. Nikki Nix culminated the meeting, with an overview of the innovative design of The WILD that houses over 40 classrooms and learning spaces in the facility that combines to provide event seating and a press box for Wildcat Stadium. Combining the two into a single building provided substantial savings while also making the facility used every single day rather than just during athletic events.
