Godley ISD was awarded $513,921 through the Safety and Facilities Enhancement (SAFE) Grant from the Texas Education Agency.
Funds provided by this grant will be strategically utilized to enhance safety measures across GISD schools, ensuring a secure learning environment for both students and staff.
“Godley ISD is dedicated to implementing improvements that align with stringent school safety standards outlined in state law,” commented Superintendent Dr. Rich Dear. “This generous SAFE Grant is a testament to our commitment to maintaining and improving these safety standards.”
GISD will use the grant award for:
-
installing safety and security window film to help delay intruders and provide extra response time by slowing an intruder down
-
renumbering exterior doors at some campuses based on updated state guidance
-
enhancing security communications infrastructure
The goal of these improvements is to create an environment that not only prioritizes safety but also fosters a safe environment to promote student learning and progress.
"We are grateful for TEA’s support in recognizing the unique needs of Godley ISD. This grant will enable us to make vital enhancements to our facilities, ensuring that we meet and exceed the safety standards set by the state," said Director of Safety and Well-Being Brian Hunt. “We look forward to creating a safer and more secure educational environment for our students.”
