Godley ISD named Daina Smith as the school district’s new transportation director on April 18, 2023.

Smith has been serving as interim director since January after serving as the department’s assistant since the fall of 2021.  She previously worked for 13 years in the Burleson school district, where she served as the transportation department’s route coordinator.

“Daina has been fantastic as the interim director. She has earned this opportunity, and we are excited for her and the district,” commented Jason Karnes, the district’s assistant superintendent. “We have full confidence that she will do an amazing job serving the students and families of the district.”

Over half of GISD students are bus riders in the 122-square mile school district, which employs 22 drivers and 21 attendants for daily routes that transport students to and from school.  Routes were updated in January with the opening of Pleasant View Elementary School.  In addition, the department supports field trips and extracurricular travel as well as a white fleet for staff use.
