Derek Weathers

Godley ISD honored alumnus Derek Weathers with military recognition prior to the Godley-Waxahachie Life Homecoming football game on September 19, 2025.

A 2006 graduate of Godley High School, Weathers is a U.S. Army veteran.

Weathers was an All-District football player and UIL champion during his Wildcat days. After graduation, he served as an intelligence analyst in the U.S. Army from 2006–2011, including a two-year deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division. He continued his service in the Army Reserves until 2017.

Today, Weathers is Senior Director of Construction for Eden Green Technology and serves his community as a Cleburne city councilman. He is also active with the Johnson County Food Bank, Lions Club, VFW, and Cleburne Christian Business Club. Weathers and his wife, Nidya, are raising their four children in Johnson County.

The school district regularly honors Godley graduates who served in the United States military. “These brave men and women who selflessly served our country are the embodiment of honor and service,” commented Superintendent Dr. Rich Dear.
