Zach Tarrant Godley Middle School Principal

Godley ISD named Zach Tarrant as the new principal of Godley Middle School following approval by the Board of Trustees on June 15, 2026.

Tarrant brings more than two decades of educational leadership experience, including service as a principal, assistant principal, teacher and coach. He currently serves as vice president of Overture Home Care in Fort Worth and is serving his second term on the Aledo ISD school board.

"Mr. Tarrant's experience as a campus leader, educator, executive and school board trustee provides a unique combination of skills that will benefit our students, staff and families," Superintendent Dr. Rich Dear said. "He understands what it takes to build strong relationships, support teachers, maintain high expectations and create a positive school culture. We are excited to welcome him to the Wildcat family."

A graduate of Mansfield High School, Tarrant earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Sam Houston State University and a master's degree in educational administration from Tarleton State University.

Before moving into campus administration, Tarrant taught social studies in Mansfield ISD and at Leonard Middle School in Fort Worth ISD, where he also served as a lead content teacher and department chair.

Prior to his work in the private sector, Tarrant served as principal of McAnally Intermediate School in Aledo ISD from 2015 to 2019 and previously served as assistant principal of Aledo Middle School. During his educational career, he led campus improvement initiatives, supervised instructional programs, coordinated school safety efforts and supported teacher development.

As principal of McAnally Intermediate School, Tarrant led a campus serving approximately 750 students while focusing on instructional improvement, campus culture and student achievement. His professional experience also includes leadership in workforce development, organizational growth, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.

Tarrant joins a Godley Middle School leadership team that includes assistant principals Laura Matos and Ben Hall. Together, the campus leadership team will continue supporting student achievement, positive school culture and strong partnerships with families as Godley Middle School prepares for the 2026-27 school year.

Tarrant will assume his duties as GMS principal this summer in preparation for the 2026-27 school year.
