The Godley ISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Taylor High as the district’s new head girls basketball coach and assistant athletic director during its meeting on April 20, 2026.

High brings a strong background of success at both the high school and collegiate levels, including head coaching experience at Spring Hill High School in the Longview area and assistant coaching positions at the University of California, Riverside; Grand Canyon University; Texas Woman’s University; Pratt Community College; Dodge City Community College; and the University of Kansas.

Most recently, High served as head girls basketball and cross country coach at Spring Hill High School, where he led the program to its first district championship in 15 years, earned district coach of the year honors and guided the team to multiple playoff appearances. In his first year as head coach, the Panthers earned their first winning season in six years. The following year, the team advanced to the postseason for the first time in six years.

“We are extremely excited to join our staff at Godley,” Godley ISD Athletic Director Danny Dudgeon said. “His experience in both the collegiate and high school level will add great value to our athletic program. He has shown the ability to build a program while also continuing to support the programs around him. I have no doubt that he will continue the great tradition of Godley girls basketball and athletics.”

As assistant athletic director, High will support the continued growth of the district’s athletic programs while leading the Ladycat basketball program into its next chapter.

High succeeds longtime Godley head coach Mark Chauveaux.
