Godley High School health science students in HOSA-Future Health Professionals received a $1,000 grant from Carter BloodCare on August 31, 2023.
With high schools at the forefront of instilling blood donation as a lifelong practice in young people, the Great Grants program was created to reward schools that participate in supporting the community blood supply by hosting blood drives. The grant program recognizes high schools that meet goals, host a minimum of three blood drives and hold at least two school-day drives.
During the 2022-23 school year, GHS students held three blood drives with 224 donors providing 196 units of whole blood, double red blood cell or plasma.
The group will host its first blood drive on Tuesday, Sept. 26 with the public welcome to join the community effort. Signup information will be announced for those interested.
