Godley High School senior Julia Roy earned a spot in the 2025 ATSSB All-State Symphonic Band during area auditions on January 11, 2025, at Robinson High School.

A trumpet player, Roy will perform with the state ensemble during the Texas Music Educators Association conference on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.

More than 10,000 high school band students from across Texas auditioned in 22 different regions for a place in their respective all-region bands. The top chairs in each region advanced to one of the five area auditions held across the state, and only 286 of these students were selected for all-state honors.

Roy was among six GHS band members selected for all-region band ensembles during tryouts in December.  At the area auditions, she was joined by French horn player Gavin Jorgensen, who is a state alternate after being selected as third chair, and contra bass clarinet player Colten Moore with a fourth-chair finish.  These three will perform with the region honor band.

Other Godley students receiving regional honors include Kannon Ward, who was named to the all-region percussion ensemble.  Selected for the regional symphonic band were Aiden Hart (tuba) and Tucker Holzheuser (percussion).

The Region 5/30 clinic and concert will be Jan. 24-25 at Kennedale High School.

Roy is pictured with her mother, Mary Ann, on Senior Night in August 2024.
