Godley High School junior Kolbie Jones is sharing her creativity with young readers as the author and illustrator of a new children's book, Blossom's First Day.

The story follows Blossom, a young unicorn, as she prepares for her first day of school. Like many students, Blossom experiences first-day butterflies and uncertainty before overcoming her fears and discovering that school can be a fun and exciting place.

Jones drew inspiration for the book from her experience with drawing and coloring, skills she has developed through art classes as well as years of doodling and creating on her own.

In addition to writing the story, Jones created the illustrations that bring Blossom and her first-day adventure to life.

Through Blossom's First Day, Jones hopes young children will find something fun and relatable while also being inspired on their own reading journeys. The story's focus on overcoming fear and anxiety surrounding the first day of school offers young readers encouragement as they experience new situations of their own.

Jones also created a companion coloring book, giving children another way to interact with Blossom and the story through their own creativity.
