Godley High School varsity and junior varsity girls claimed district championships at the District 10-4A meet on October 11, 2022, at Wallace Park in Hillsboro.

Varsity girls placed first among the district schools, which include Alvarado, Ferris, Hillsboro, Kennedale, Venus, and Waxahachie Life.  The first-place squad advances to the Region II-4A competition on Oct. 24-25 at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie.

Freshman Stephanie Favela led the team with a third-place finish of 13:21.10 in the 3.2k run.  Also on varsity were freshman Sophia Hodges (13:54.85, fifth), junior Kassidi Ferguson (14:07.14, seventh), freshman Sadey Hughey (14:12.28, eighth), junior Paola Diaz (14:13.15, ninth), freshman Jordyn Geesaman (14:31.42, 14th), and freshman Jimena Minero (15:12.46, 22nd).

For the JV, Logan Reed was the top runner with a time of 15:09.87 to win first.  Others on the team were Gabriella Thompson (15:23.42, second), Mackenzie Hillis (15:31.12, third), Peyton Bower (15:34.40), Lila Heiner (15:34.60), Nola Briscoe (15:47.04), and Veronica Duran (15:59.73).

For the boys’ teams, Junior Trejo is advancing to regionals individually after posting a seventh-place finish.

Results for the 5k runs were:

  • Varsity Boys (fifth):  Junior Trejo (18:08.27, seventh), Wyatt Cheek (18:57.20), Ethan James (19:04.16), Caleb Wood (19:32.64), Ryan Jones (19:55.49), Tristan Reo (20:24.55), Camden Flood (21:57:42)

  • Junior Varsity Boys (fourth):  Marcos Molina (20:40.86, eighth), Pecos Akridge (20:41.73, ninth), Angel Montalvo (22:19.92), Grayson Crane (22:23.65), Mathis Mezger (22:49.29), Jackson Harry (23:32.79), Carson Pena (24:08.48)
