Two Godley High School Ladycat freshmen are advancing to state after placing at the Region II-4A cross country meet on October 24, 2022, at Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie.

Stepahanie Favela and Sadey Hughey placed seventh and ninth among individual runners not on the top four teams.  The two freshmen posted times of 12:31 and 12:52 respectively in the 2k race featuring 157 runners.  The first four teams and the top ten individuals not already on one of the advancing teams qualify for state.

Godley finished sixth among 24 teams.  In addition to Favela and Hughey, also on the squad were junior Kassidy Ferguson (13:22), freshman Sophia Hodges (13:30), junior Paola Diaz (13:34), freshman Jordyn Geesaman (13:42), and freshman Jimena Minero (14:03).

The Ladycat varsity squad qualified for the regional contest after winning the district championship on Oct. 11 in Hillsboro.

For the boys’ teams, Junior Trejo competed at regionals individually after advancing from district.

The Class 4A state meet is set for Friday, Nov. 4 at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.
