Goldey FFA won sweepstakes honors at the Chisholm Trail District’s Leadership Development Events competition on November 9, 2022, in Cleburne.

Advancing to area level are students competing in agricultural advocacy, junior quiz, public relations, radio and senior skills events.

Godley results were:

• Agricultural Advocacy:  team, 2nd and area qualifier (Owen Dickson, Taryn Franks, Kaidynce Haws, Peyton Haws)

• FFA Broadcasting:  team, 1st and area qualifier (Symphany Grier, Cate Heiner, Brittany Roark)

• Job Interview:  Makenna Carter, 4th

• Junior Creed Speaking:  Emma Lindamood, 3rd

• Junior Chapter Conducting:  team, 4th (Tucker Clark, Mackenzie Crawford, Ava Jackson, Klara Pinkerton, Rylie Robertson, Ryan Russell, Abbi Taylor)

• Junior FFA Quiz:  team, 2nd and area qualifier (Ava Jackson, 5th; Aliyah Conn, 7th; Klara Pinkerton, 12th; Tucker Clark, 14th)

• Public Relations:  team, 1st and area qualifier (Cate Heiner, Brittany Roark, Kerri Roy, Caitlyn White)

• Senior Chapter Conducting:  team, 5th (Cale Broyles, Seth Henderson, Lane Nichols, Lucy Payne, Kinlee Smith, Noble Ward-Jones, Logan Wilson)

• Senior Agricultural Skill Demonstration:  team, 1st and area qualifier (Delaney Coym, Veronica Duran, Lila Heiner, Abbey Mathis)

• Senior Creed Speaking:  Symphany Grier, 5th

• Spanish Creed Speaking:  Alberto Diaz, 3rd

• Senior FFA Quiz:  team, 8th (Makenna Cater, 12th; Nola Briscoe; Leisl Hebert; Abby Mathis)

LDEs focus on creating situations for members to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization. Team and individual events are used to reinforce what is taught in agricultural science classrooms.

The Area VIII competition is on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Waxahachie High School.
