Godley Independent School District - Empowering Students

Logo Title

The Godley FFA wildlife team kicked off Career Development Events with a strong finish at the area and regional competition on April 9, 2024, in Gatesville.

The team of Owen Dickson, Alex Duran, Peyton Haws and Creed Miller placed third among both Area VIII and Region V competitors.  Individually, Duran placed seventh while Miller was ninth.

In the wildlife CDE, students apply the information gained through enrollment in the agricultural science wildlife management course to demonstrate and identify plant species, proper habitat management practices, safety procedures, game laws, management techniques as well as compass and pacing skills.

CDEs build on what is learned in agricultural classes and encourage members to put their knowledge into practice. These events are designed to help a member prepare for a career in agriculture by testing and challenging the student's technical, leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills as well as their knowledge of the subject matter. CDEs answer the question, "When will I use this knowledge in the real world?"

FFA sponsors are Lacey Bennett, Lloyd Pinkerton, Leslie Bourgea, Millie Loftin and Katherine Adams.
