Several Godley High School FFA teams advanced to state-level Career Development Event (CDE) competitions during the spring 2026 season following strong performances at the Chisholm Trail District and Area VIII contests.

Godley FFA teams competed in Wildlife, Floriculture, Livestock and Wool judging events at state competitions across Texas.

The Floriculture team earned the district and area championships before placing sixth in the state competition on April 23 at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. Team members included Nola Briscoe, Lila Heiner, Trynity Lively and Cameryn Meade. Briscoe was the first-place individual at the area contest, while Heiner finished second individually at area competition. At the state contest, Lively placed sixth individually and Briscoe finished 13th individually.

The Wildlife team placed second at district, third at area and 20th at the state contest held April 20 at the Stephen F. Austin Experimental Forest in Nacogdoches. Team members included Campbell Armstrong, Bradley Fancher, Hayden Flood and Zane Simmons.

The Wool team earned second-place finishes at both district and area competitions before placing 29th at the state contest May 1-2 at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Team members included Gracie DeFoor, Brooke Lynch, Klara Pinkerton and Blakely Thompson. Lynch was the sixth-high individual at the area contest, while Pinkerton placed ninth individually.

The Livestock team placed third at district, seventh at area and 43rd at the state contest on April 25 at Texas A&M University in College Station. Team members included Tucker Clark, Taryn Franks, Dominic Masidonio and Logan Wilson.

Additional participants in state-qualifying CDE categories included:

  • Floriculture: Keeley DeLeon and Madison Fry.
  • Livestock: Paisley Crawford, Ryland Fitzgerald, Sonnet Grier and Madison Hughes.
  • Wildlife: Kody Grounds, Wyatt Ivy and Kolton Pinkerton.
  • Wool: Maddyn Martin, Makenna Robinson and Peyton Tanksley.

Additional Godley FFA Career Development Event teams and results included:

  • Cotton — second in district, seventh in area: Gracie DeFoor, Brooke Lynch, Maddyn Martin, Klara Pinkerton, Makenna Robinson, Peyton Tanksley and Blakely Thompson.
  • Entomology — third in district, fifth in area: Landon Davis-Wheeler, Barrett Lynch, Eli’ja Murphy, Valerie Oviedo, Piper Sosebee. Sosebee placed 10th individually at the area contest.
  • Milk Quality — second in district, eighth in area: Kai Bunch, Dylan Brown, Evan Culberton, Camden Hinton, Luke Tyler. Hinton placed eighth individually at the area contest.
  • Nursery/Landscape — first in district, seventh in area: Allyson Ainsworth, Marissa Bethell, Callie DeVillier, Landry Kamm, Je’nessa Melgoza and Graham McMullen.
  • Poultry — sixth in district, 12th in area: Cannon Carter, Alberto Diaz, Allisun Henderson, Cole McCollum, Jullian Torres, Aj Welch and Cheyenne Williams.
  • Veterinary Science — ninth in district, 22nd in area: Ariiyan Cantrell, Jordyn Hutt, Jadyn Hutt, Jade Neyman, Brandylin Reo and Briscoe Reeves.

Career Development Events build on what students learn in agricultural science classes and provide opportunities to apply that knowledge in real-world settings. The competitions are designed to prepare students for careers in agriculture by developing technical knowledge, leadership abilities, teamwork and communication skills.
