Godley FFA teams claimed area titles at the Area VIII Leadership Development Events competition on November 18, 2023, at Waxahachie High School.

Advancing to state are students competing in agricultural advocacy, job interview and public relations.

Godley results were:

• Agricultural Advocacy:  team, second and state qualifier (Owen Dickson, Veronica Duran, Taryn Franks, Peyton Haws, Donnette Todey)

• Job Interview:  Makenna Carter, first and area qualifier

• Public Relations:  team, first and area qualifier (Lila Heiner, Abbey Mathis, Caitlyn White, Logan Wilson)

The students advanced to area from the Chisholm Trail District contest earlier this month.

LDEs focus on creating situations for members to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization. Team and individual events are used to reinforce what is taught in agricultural science classrooms.

The state competitions are on Dec. 1-2 at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

FFA sponsors are Lacey Bennett, Lloyd Pinkerton, Leslie Bourgea, Millie Loftin and Katherine Adams.
