The Godley FFA public relations team qualified for state at the Area VIII Leadership Development Events competition on November 22, 2024, at Hillsboro High School.

Competing were the public relations team along with two other squads that advanced from the Chisholm Trail District contest on Nov. 13 in Cleburne.

Godley results were:

• Greenhand Quiz:  team, seventh (Eli Dickson, Bradley Fancher, Hayden Flood, Zane Simmons)
• Greenhand Skills:  team, third (Porter Martin, Aubry Meade, Jessye Tout, Zach White)
• Public Relations:  team, second and state qualifier (Lila Heiner, Ellie Motsios, Landon Tarwater, Caitlyn White)

LDEs focus on creating situations for members to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization. Team and individual events are used to reinforce what is taught in agricultural science classrooms.

The state contest is on Dec. 6-7 at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
