Godley FFA student leaders were highlighted at the area convention on May 10, 2024, at McLennan Community College in Waco.
Caitlyn White, a junior, was elected area treasurer. Area VIII consists of 91 schools and 17,520 FFA members in five districts: Bosque River, Blackland, Chisholm Trail, Sandy Land and Heart O’ Texas.

Emma Wilkin: state-advancing Star Greenhand Award in Agribusiness
Star Awards go to students with an exceptional overall supervised agricultural experience (SAE). These awards are given at each degree level in the four divisions of production, agribusiness, agricultural placement and agriscience .
A chapter farmer is a second-year student enrolled in agriculture that has an entrepreneurial SAE that focuses on production of an agriculture product. A greenhand in agri-business is a first-year student enrolled in an agriculture class that has an entrepreneurial agribusiness SAE that focuses on sales, services or other entrepreneurial endeavors.
Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through SAEs, have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers. Awards areas include entrepreneurship, placement, combined and agri-science research.
Voting delegates from Godley at the area convention were Campbell Armstrong, Nola Briscoe, Keagan Carter, Makenna Carter, Tucker Clark, Alberto Diaz, Taryn Franks, Ava Jackson, Dominic Masidonio, Abbey Mathis, Donnett Toddy, Emma Wilkes and Logan Wilson. Incoming Chisholm Trail District president Lila Heiner represented Godley as a courtesy corps member.
The 96th Texas FFA State Convention will be held July 8-12 in Houston.
