Godley FFA members shined at the Chisholm Trail District’s Leadership Development Events competition on November 8, 2023, at Cleburne High School.

Advancing to area level are students competing in agricultural advocacy, job interview and public relations.

Godley results were:

• Agricultural Advocacy:  team, second and area qualifier (Owen Dickson, Veronica Duran, Taryn Franks, Peyton Haws, Donnette Todey)

• FFA Broadcasting:  team, fifth (Kaidynce Haws, Lila Heiner, Caitlyn White)

• Job Interview:  Makenna Carter, second and area qualifier

• Junior Agricultural Skill Demonstration:  team, fourth (Campbell Armstrong, Caleb Auzenne, Lilly Knight, Abbi Smith

• Junior Creed Speaking:  Emma Wilkin, 14th

• Public Relations:  team, first and area qualifier (Lila Heiner, Abbey Mathis, Caitlyn White, Logan Wilson)

• Senior Agricultural Skill Demonstration:  team, fourth (Makenna Carter, Tucker Clark, Kaidynce Haws, Klara Pinkerton)

• Senior Creed Speaking:  Eliana Motsios, fifth

• Spanish Creed Speaking:  Alberto Diaz, third

• Senior FFA Quiz:  team, fourth (Nola Briscoe, Aliyah Conn, Ava Jackson, Klara Pinkerton); individual - Klara Pinkerton, fourth

LDEs focus on creating situations for members to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization. Team and individual events are used to reinforce what is taught in agricultural science classrooms.

The Area VIII competition is on Saturday, Nov. 18 at Waxahachie High School.
