Godley High School cheerleaders advanced to the finals in the UIL Spirit State Championships on January 17-18, 2025, at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
The GHS girls finished 19th among 61 schools competing in Class 4A Division II. They made the finals featuring the top 20 squads for the third time in the past four years.
According to the UIL, spirit is an extracurricular activity that focuses on the traditional game day role cheerleaders have on the sidelines and in schools supporting athletic teams. At the state event, schools compete in three categories: crowd leading, fight song and band dance.
The 2024-25 cheer squad is led by captains Peyton Bower and Marleigh Thompson Members are Kennedy Black, Harlee Brown, Makenzie Crawford, Britton Everroad, Brooke Gallagher, Cali Harrington, Taylour Lewis, Kenadie Martin, Katie Ponce, Raelyn Revland, Maddilynne Schlick, Ava Siddall, Abbie Smith, Paola Valenzuela and Sady Williams.
Cheer coaches are Dana Burke and Amanda Musselman.
The GHS team is advancing to the NCA High School Nationals set for Jan. 24-26 in Dallas.
