Godley Middle School students honored Veterans Day with a special assembly on November 11, 2024.
The celebration included recognition of family members and the community who served in the United States armed forces. Special speaker for the event was teacher Roger Lawson, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
National Junior Honor Society student speakers organized a White Table presentation (sometimes referred to as the Missing Man Table or the Fallen Comrade Table) to honor and remember those fallen, missing, or imprisoned while in service to our country.
NJHS students leading the presentation were Sydnee Applegate, Taylor Bain, Eli Dickson, Jordyn Hutt, Barret Lynch, Leighton Murphy, Mason Quinteros, Rilynn Pevsner, Caylee Price, Kinley Simmons, Blakely Thompson, Briggs Thompson, Jessye Tout and Reagan Wood.
The GMS Honor Band performed “American Declaration,” and a saxophone ensemble led attendees in the National Anthem. Eighth grader Hayden Flood performed “Taps” following a moment of silence.
