Godley Middle School students in the HOPE Squad attended the 2025 Texas Peer-to-Peer Youth Conference on January 15, 2025, at Arlington ISD’s Dr. Marcelo Cavazos Center for Visual & Performing Arts.

A peer-to-peer suicide prevention program, HOPE Squad student members are nominated by their classmates as trustworthy peers and trained by advisors. The program reduces youth suicide through education, training and peer intervention.

With more than 1,000 students attending the meeting, organizers said, “The insightful breakout sessions, compelling speakers, and engaging conversations will truly make a difference in the lives of the young attendees and advisors as they foster mental health awareness, hope and support in Texas schools and communities.”

The conference was sponsored by the Fort Worth-based Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation, which sponsors HOPE Squad chapters in Texas schools.  Other patrons were the Grace Loncar Foundation and the Grant Halliburton Foundation.
