Godley High School students led ribbon cutting ceremonies for The WILD and a fine arts wing during the week of April 15, 2024.
Joining the ceremony was the Godley Chamber of Commerce, Godley ISD school board trustees and administrators, civic and business leaders, representatives of the Huckabee school architectural firm, contractors and community members.
The WILD (Wildcat Innovative Learning Destination) is a four-story career and technical education center that serves several programs of study in nine career clusters: Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources; Arts, AV Technology & Communications; Business, Marketing & Finance; Education & Training; Health Science; Human Services; Information Technology; Transportation, Distribution & Logistics.
CTE includes numerous programs of study within each cluster, and many include capstone experiences such as student-led enterprises, certifications and internships. In addition, students may participate in a variety of student organizations such as Godley FFA, Godley Squadron (drone), HOSA-Future Health Professionals, Robotics Team and TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators). A first-floor school store will serve as the hub for many student-led enterprises that will be open to students, parents and the community.
The new fine arts wing includes space for the GHS Band, which has been continuing to use the band hall at Godley Middle School, along with high school art, theater and dance programs. Part of the new facilities is a rehearsal hall and practice rooms for a future choir program.
Both The WILD and fine arts wing are part of phases 2 and 3 of the high school expansion to increase student capacity. Over the last few years, high school enrollment has increased 8% on average.
