Godley Serves volunteers converged on the community on April 6, 2024, to assist with projects at the park, churches, highways, homes, and other organizations.

Godley High School students helped with cleaning out flower beds, window washing, fence painting, highway cleanup, yard maintenance and more.  Participants worked several hours as a “thank you” to community members.

The community service outreach project was designed to “improve our community by coming together,” according to the student organizers.

This project was organized by Godley High School seniors Kaden Abbott, Jackson Harry, Collin Langford and Jay Swiger.  The GHS students developed and planned the initiative through an English IV course taught by Amanda Cloy, who uses the senior project to help students develop practical skills in technical writing, presentations, interviews and more as they prepare for college and the workforce.

The initiative began in 2022 as the Big Event modeled after a large one-day, student-run service project at Texas A&M University. School officials hope to continue the volunteer event annually.
