Four Godley High School students are advancing to regional competition after placing at the District 10-4A speech and debate contest on April 1, 2024, at Alvarado High School.
Winning first place in Lincoln-Douglas debate was senior Bryanna Morales. The district champion advanced to state last year as a junior.

Poetry Interpretation: Ava Jackson, fourth (regional alternate)
Overall, the GHS speech and debate team won second place sweepstakes.
Also competing at the district tournament were Reagan Brooks, Brett Fancher, Camila Jasso, Jardiel Jimenez, Emma Lindamood, Katie Ponce and Sutton Riley.
Garcia qualified for the 11th Annual State Congress at the beginning of the year. In March, Garcia and Iglehart competed in the state cross-examination debate meet. In addition, Garcia, Iglehart and Morales were among Godley students advancing to state in speech and debate events sponsored by the Technology Student Association.
The Region II-4A speech and debate contest will be Saturday, Apr. 27 at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
