Two Godley High School seniors spearheaded a bilingual library book project through a senior project class. The books were presented to Godley ISD elementary campuses on March 8, 2023.
Jessica Castillo and Brianna Rascon, the two seniors, developed and planned the initiative through an English IV course taught by Amanda Cloy, who uses the senior project to help students develop practical skills in technical writing, presentations, interviews and more as they prepare for college and the workforce.
The seniors marketed their program and solicited donations from parents and the community, who could donate selected books through Amazon. Included were several popular children’s titles translated into Spanish. Having the books will expand offerings for ESL students, who can select from both English and Spanish books.
Pictured are the two seniors presenting the new library books at Legacy Elementary School, Pleasant View Elementary School and R.B. Godley Elementary School. Included are ESL program students, campus principals, Cloy and STEAM/CLI Director Kim Kenneson.
