Godley ISD elementary students attended a fine arts festival organized by two Godley High School seniors on December 12, 2024.
The festival showcased band, dance and theater for the young students so that they learn about the fine arts opportunities available in high school and middle school. Performances included a routine from the varsity dance team, skits from the GHS theater troupe and songs by the high school jazz band.
Organizers for the fine arts showcase were GHS seniors Noah Knepper and Kannon Ward through the high school senior project class.
With a focus on service, several seniors are developing and planning their initiatives through an English IV course taught by Amanda Cloy, who uses the class to help students develop practical skills in technical writing, presentations, interviews and more as they prepare for college and the workforce.
Presentations in the spring semester will culminate the projects, which include planning and development, communication with mentors and participants, execution of the activities and submitting a lengthy process paper to summarize program components and timelines, strengths, weaknesses, tips for future students and more.
