A Godley High School team competed at the Cowtown BEST robotics competition on October 14-15, 2022, at Arlington Martin High School.
Team members are captain Valeria Villagrana, Aiden Baker, Willie Carter, Tyson Melson, and Jacob Ryan.
Although Godley’s squad was the smallest of the 18 teams at the contest, students performed well. The team held steady in fifth place for much of the day but stumbled in the last match of the first round eliminating the GHS group from advancing to state. However, the squad excelled in a semi-finals matchup to earn eighth place.
“I am very proud of our team, and they can hold their heads up high,” commented team sponsor Erik Walla. “I cannot wait till next year. I hope there's a trophy case on our hall in the new [career and technical education] building. We are going to fill it up.”
Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology (BEST) is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization with a mission to inspire middle and high school students to pursue careers in professional careers like engineering, science, and technology through participation in a sports-like, science and engineering-based robotics competition.
