Media Team students at Godley High School were honored by Godley ISD school board trustees on October 21, 2024.
Students manage the video and livestream at high school athletic events, including varsity football games. The team has expanded this year into a large group rotating between games to provide engaging video and content for both spectators and home viewers.
The students are gaining real-world experience in audio/video production, a career and technical education program at The WILD, the new four-story CTE center housing numerous programs with over 40 classrooms, learning spaces and student-led enterprises. The AV classrooms include professional production equipment as well as a full studio complete with news desk and green screen.
The team includes Valerie Becerra, Benjamin Clark, Colt Colson, Kori Iglehart, Ava Jackson, Wyatt Jones, Braylen Knott, Alexis Morales, Ellie Navarro, Kyleigh Pedregon, Sophia Perez, Marcus Santos, Angelique Terrazas and Xavier Venegas.
GHS courses taught by Peyton Trawick help the students develop their skills, beginning with an introductory principles course that allows students to explore career opportunities in the arts, audio/video technology and communications.
In Audio/Video Production 1, students develop an understanding of the industry with a focus on pre-production, production, and post-production audio and video products. Students can continue with Audio/Video Production to develop advanced understanding with a lab included to allow students sufficient time to master the content of both courses.
Later, students enroll in practicums designed and structured to work as an open and largely self-directed lab course that allows students to expand and deepen the skills they learned in the production courses. Practicum students take on leadership roles in all of the real production projects, and each student identifies personal academic goals for the semester with projects, assignments, and courses of study.
