Godley High School senior AJ Garcia-Robles has been named an Academic All-American by the National Speech & Debate Association.

The Academic All-American award recognizes high school students who have earned the degree of Superior Distinction; completed at least five semesters of high school; demonstrated outstanding character and leadership; and maintained a grade-point average of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent.

Garcia-Robles has represented Godley High School at the state level, competing last year in both the UIL CX State Tournament and the UIL Congress State Tournament. It marked his second consecutive year advancing to state competition in congressional debate.

Founded in 1925, the National Speech & Debate Association supports and inspires students through speech and debate programs that build communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creative skills.
