Four Godley High School students qualified for regional competition hosted by the Texas High School Bass Association following several contests throughout the 2023-23 school year.

The team of Blane Applegate and Camden Darder finished seventh among 244 teams in the West Division, earning a regional nod for the second year in a row.  Also qualifying were Owen Dickson and Braeden Gregg.

The regional competition will be Saturday, Apr. 15 at Lake Ray Roberts followed by the state contest on May 20-21 at Lake Sam Rayburn.

With a top ten finish during the season, Applegate and Darder earned a spot in the Angler of the Year Challenge on Jun. 24 on Lake Palestine.

West Division competitions were held on Oct. 1 at Possum Kingdom Lake, Oct. 29 at Hubbard Creek Lake, Dec. 3 at Lake Granbury, Feb. 18 at Lake Bridgeport and Mar. 18 at Lake Whitney.  Applegate and Darder placed 21st in the Granbury competition, 19th at Hubbard Creek and 23rd at Possum Kingdom. At Bridgeport, Kason Bailey and Landon DeLeon placed 10th.

Founded in 2014, THSBA provides a venue where high school students have the opportunity to compete in organized tournaments while establishing strict guidelines and academic standards that will allow our student anglers to excel in the classroom and on the lake.
