Godley Independent School District - Empowering Students

Logo Title

Godley 6th Grade Campus was in the spotlight at the Godley ISD school board meeting on April 21, 2025, at Godley High School.

Principal Jayme Duckett reported on significant progress among sixth graders with strong growth in those mastering math from the beginning of the school year.  She outlined several strategies that teachers are using to assist students in both reading and math.

Duckett discussed the school’s implementation of the community-based accountability system, which is based upon the hopes and dreams of the Godley community and built around seven important pillars.  CBAS is a locally-developed accountability system, measures benefits and effectiveness of GISD schools, highlights district successes and areas for improvement, and incorporates state testing and accountability.

Detailing student enrollment, the 6th Grade Campus saw a significant increase this year to 245 students from 208 students last school year.  The principal highlighted student incentives that have helped increase attendance rates, including a school-wide Clue mystery game last fall plus popcorn parties and attendance plans for students with excessive absences.

Also featured in the spotlight was instructional progress for three teachers participating in student-centered coaching.

Duckett praised the student council for its campus leadership and volunteer projects.  Pictured with school board trustees are student council members with Duckett and sponsors Breyana Martin and Kimberly Pannell.
