Godley ISD fifth graders engaged in a balloon rocket hands-on activity during science labs on October 2, 2024.
In small groups, students used balloons, tape and a straw for their rockets measuring the distance of time it takes for the balloon to travel along the string. Students experimented with both full balloons and half-full balloons to gather data and compare and contrast the differences.
As part of the lab, students noted all the materials they needed for the experiment including measuring tape and stopwatches.
With engaging lessons, elementary students have plenty of hands-on opportunities. Updated science curriculum gives teachers more possibilities to conduct experiments and demonstrations as they strive to base learning around the experience or "phenomenon" of science.
