The Godley ISD Facility Planning Committee held its third session on July 29, 2025, at R.B. Godley Elementary School School.

Committee members developed a proposal for the school board for a possible bond.  Scenarios considered were based on the group’s previous ranking of project priorities.

The individual committee members voted on three possible scenarios, and all then voted unanimously to support the overwhelming choice of the group.

The $119,957,000 proposal addresses both aging facilities and student enrollment growth and includes:

• renovations to R.B. Godley Elementary School, including replacement of the roof and roof top HVAC units plus interior improvements
• renovations to Legacy Elementary School, including replacement of the roof and roof top HVAC units plus plumbing corrections and interior improvements
• renovations to Godley 6th Grade Campus, including replacement of the roof and roof top HVAC units
• a classroom addition to Godley Middle School as well as renovations to the existing building so, when completed, could include 1,200 students in grades 6-8
• technology improvements including data wiring and classroom technology at GMS, G6, Legacy and RBG
• new school buses
• traffic study and improvements

The school board will make the final decision on whether to call a bond election.  Trustees will also decide the overall amount, what projects are included and how the ballot measure is organized.

At the first meeting on July 15, the committee reviewed demographics, economic and housing indicators and enrollment growth projections.  The group also discussed how student enrollment is impacting capacity at current campuses, and then members listed “needs and wants” for the district and schools.

On July 29, the second meeting focused primarily on school finance and prioritizing list of potential facility projects.  Following presentations from Spencer Davis, the school district’s chief financial officer, and Jeff Robert, a managing director with Hilltop Securities, the group reviewed estimated costs for facility options developed from prior discussions.  Each member evaluated the list and selected their own priorities from among those projects.

The advisory committee will hold additional meetings and will develop recommendations for the school board.  The group will consider needs for current campuses as well as future facility and infrastructure needs.
