
Every Godley High School athletic program reached postseason competition during the 2025-26 school year, highlighting one of the most successful years in Wildcat and Ladycat athletics history.
The year featured district championships, state qualifiers in cross country and powerlifting, a UIL state swimming medalist, a state-semifinal soccer team, state tournament appearances in boys and girls golf, multiple athletes earning statewide recognition and significant coaching milestones that reflected the continued growth of Godley athletics
“This was a remarkable year for our student-athletes, coaches and families,” Athletic Director Danny Dudgeon said. “To have every athletic program reach the postseason speaks to the commitment, work ethic and culture that exists throughout Godley athletics. Our teams competed at a high level, represented our community well and achieved success in every season.”
Fall Sports Set the Tone
Ladycat Volleyball Claims District Championship
The Ladycats completed a perfect 12-0 run through District 12-4A competition to capture the district championship. Godley opened the playoffs with a bi-district victory over Dallas Pinkston before concluding the season in the area round against Frisco Panther Creek.
Senior Bella Van Wart earned Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State honors for the second consecutive season.
Wildcat Football Returns to the Playoffs
The Wildcats earned a playoff berth after finishing third in District 4-4A and carrying a three-game winning streak into the postseason.
Godley faced Graham in the Class 4A Division II bi-district playoffs at Aledo's Tim Buchanan Stadium. While the Wildcats fell 32-0, the playoff appearance marked another successful season for the program.
Ladycat Cross Country Qualifies for State Meet
The Ladycats delivered one of the strongest cross country seasons in school history.
Godley captured the District 12-4A championship before finishing second at the Region II-4A Championships to qualify for the UIL State Cross Country Championships.
Senior Makayla Jetton earned the highest regional finish in program history, placing second overall with a time of 12:05.49.
The state-qualifying roster included Makayla Jetton, Dillan Akridge, Leighton Murphy, Sophia Hodges, Kennedy Black, Emma Lindamood and Madison Leonhardt. Alternates were Presley Hindash, Julyssa Ortiz and Kinley Simmons.
For the Wildcats, Landon Bell and Cy Tennery both posted strong performances at the regional meet.
Team Tennis Advances to Area Playoffs
The Wildcats advanced to the Class 4A area playoffs after finishing third in District 12-4A.
Godley defeated Dallas Pinkston 13-6 in the bi-district round before falling to Frisco Panther Creek in the area playoffs.
The roster included Carolleigh Abbott, Barrett Anderson, Kennedy Black, Bailey Brannum, Benjamin Brannum, Graci Carey, Reagan DeLeon, Presley Hindash, Jardiel Jimenez, Wyatt Jones, Milo Norr, Ivan Pallares, Ethan Quinteros, Neve Roy, Andrew Struc, Blake Weeg, Dakota Wilmot and Colt Williams.
Winter Sports Continue Success
Ladycat Basketball Wins Fourth Straight District Title
The Ladycats claimed their fourth consecutive district championship, finishing 11-1 in district play.
Godley opened the playoffs with a 67-39 bi-district victory over Wilmer-Hutchins before falling 43-40 to Frisco Panther Creek in the Class 4A Division I area round.
Wildcat Basketball Returns to the Postseason
The Wildcats earned their first playoff berth since 2022 after defeating Ferris 48-44 in a district play-in game.
Godley advanced to the Class 4A Division II bi-district playoffs before concluding the season against Dallas Carter.
Ryan McFarland Earns State Swimming Medal
Senior Ryan McFarland concluded one of the most accomplished swimming careers in Godley High School history during his third consecutive appearance at the UIL Class 4A State Swimming and Diving Championships.
Competing at the state meet in San Antonio, McFarland earned a bronze medal in the boys 100-yard backstroke, finishing third in Texas with a finals time of 55.02 seconds after posting a preliminary time of 55.45 seconds.
McFarland also advanced to the finals in the boys 100-yard freestyle, placing eighth in the state with a time of 49.97 seconds.
His state performance followed a dominant showing at the Region II-4A Championships, where he captured regional titles in both the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. McFarland was subsequently named the Region II-4A Individual Male Athlete of the Meet by the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association.
The 2025-26 season marked McFarland's third consecutive state meet appearance. As a sophomore, he qualified for state in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. As a junior, he narrowly missed the finals before returning as a senior to earn a state medal and cap one of the most successful swimming careers in school history.

Powerlifting Sends Two Athletes to State
Godley powerlifting continued its tradition of success by advancing athletes to the highest level of competition in Texas.
Sophomore Maloney Hambrice and senior Ty Mathis qualified for the UIL State Powerlifting Championships, earning the opportunity to compete among the state's top lifters after advancing through district and regional competition.

Ladycat Soccer Reaches State Semifinals
The Ladycats authored the deepest playoff run in program history.
After finishing second in District 6-4A with a 7-3 district record, Godley advanced through four rounds of the playoffs before reaching the UIL Class 4A Division II state semifinals.
The Ladycats defeated Academy 5-1 in bi-district, Lake Worth 3-2 in area, Graham 1-0 in the regional semifinals and Greenwood 4-0 in the regional championship match.
Godley's historic season came to a close with a 2-1 loss to Sunnyvale in the state semifinals.
The varsity roster included Layla Balderas, Nola Briscoe, Kaylie Fabela, Stephanie Favela, Jordyn Geesaman, Griffin Gill, Rylie Graves, Sophia Hodges, Jordyn Hutt, Makenna Jaskolowski, Eden Kelly, Arynn Long, Tayla Monchamp, Denise Ortega, Julyssa Ortiz, Kinzie Riney, Rylee Swanson and Lexi Tyler.
Hodges and Gill were named to the UIL State All-Tournament Team. Hodges and Graves later represented Godley in the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Senior All-Star Game, helping Region 1 defeat Region 2 by a 3-1 score.
Boys Soccer Makes Program History
The Wildcats secured the first soccer playoff appearance in school history after posting a 7-5 district record.
Godley faced Brownwood in the Class 4A Division II playoffs and battled to a narrow 1-0 loss in the program's first postseason match.
Golf Reaches the State Tournament
Godley golf enjoyed one of the finest seasons in school history.
The Wildcats and Ladycats swept district championships and qualified four teams for regional competition. Both varsity teams advanced to the UIL Class 4A State Golf Tournament.
The boys team finished ninth in Texas. The state tournament roster included Jaxon Hill, Tripp Karnes, Austin Merritt, Dylan Mourning and Kyle Black.
The girls state team included Maddie Fitzgerald, Marleigh Thompson, Carmen Galofaro, Ryleigh Hillis and Britton Everroad. The Ladycats improved by 27 strokes from Day 1 to Day 2 while competing against the state's top programs.


Tennis Produces Regional Qualifiers
Godley produced multiple regional qualifiers at the District 12-4A Tennis Tournament.
Blake Weeg and Ivan Pallares earned silver medals in boys doubles to qualify for the Region II-4A Tournament. Presley Hindash and Kennedy Black also earned silver medals and a regional berth in girls doubles.
Reagan DeLeon and Barrett Anderson added a bronze medal in mixed doubles.
The Wildcats also captured the District 12-4A junior varsity team championship.
Track and Field Sends Six Events to Regionals
Godley qualified six events for the UIL Region II-4A Track and Field Championships.
Senior Makayla Jetton highlighted the meet by breaking her own school record in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:43.18, becoming the first athlete in school history to break the 12-minute mark in the event.
Regional qualifiers included Makayla Jetton, Kennedy Black, Leighton Murphy, Maddyn Martin, Brett Fancher and the girls 4x100 relay team of Peyton Bower, Brooke Gallagher, Laney Mullins and Emily Gboyah.
Softball Advances to Regional Semifinals
The Ladycats captured their fifth consecutive district championship with an undefeated district record.
The title extended Godley's district winning streak to 51 consecutive games. Over the past six seasons, the Ladycats compiled a remarkable 56-4 district record.
Godley opened the playoffs with a 15-0 victory before sweeping Krum in the area round. The Ladycats concluded the season in the regional semifinals against North Lamar.
Baseball Returns to Area Round
The Wildcats advanced to the area round after sweeping Dallas Carter in bi-district play by scores of 10-0 and 11-0.
Godley's season concluded against Aubrey in the area round. Aubrey won Game 1 by a 5-4 score and secured the series with a 10-5 victory in Game 2.
Junior Gio Molina earned selection to the North Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 2A-4A All-Star Game at Riders Field in Frisco.
Celebrating Coaching Excellence
The 2025-26 school year also highlighted the accomplishments of four respected coaches whose leadership helped shape Godley athletics.
Wildcat basketball coach Jason Hill earned the 400th victory of his coaching career before announcing his retirement from basketball coaching. Hill will continue serving Godley ISD as head golf coach.
Mark Chauveaux retired as Ladycat basketball coach and girls athletic director after a distinguished career dedicated to student-athletes and the continued growth of girls athletics in Godley ISD.
Rus Mayes reached the 400-win milestone during the Ladycat softball season while guiding the team to another district championship and regional semifinal appearance.
Ladycat soccer coach Kasie Welborn led Godley to the state semifinals and earned Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Coach of the Year honors following the deepest playoff run in program history.
A Year to Remember
The 2025-26 school year featured district championships, state qualifiers, state tournament appearances, historic playoff runs, individual honors, academic achievement and coaching milestones.
Highlights included Ryan McFarland earning a state bronze medal and Region II-4A Swimmer of the Meet honors, Maloney Hambrice and Ty Mathis qualifying for the UIL State Powerlifting Championships, the Ladycat soccer team reaching the UIL state semifinals, the Ladycat cross country team qualifying for the state meet, boys and girls golf competing at the state tournament, and every Godley High School athletic program advancing to postseason competition.
The achievement reflects the dedication of student-athletes, coaches, families and supporters throughout the Godley community and stands as one of the defining accomplishments in the history of Wildcat and Ladycat athletics.
