Godley ISD Athletic Director and Godley High School Head Football Coach Danny Dudgeon has been named to Dave Campbell's Texas Football's 40 Under 40 – Who's Next Among Texas Coaches, recognizing 40 of the state's top rising high school football coaches under the age of 40.

The annual honor recognizes coaches who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and are considered among the profession's emerging leaders in Texas.

"Danny is an outstanding leader who has built a culture of excellence that extends far beyond the football field," Superintendent Dr. Rich Dear said. "He is committed to developing student-athletes of character while raising expectations for every athletic program. This recognition is well deserved and reflects the positive impact he continues to have on our students, coaches and community."

In announcing this year's honorees, the publication noted, "In three seasons at Clyde, Dudgeon turned the Bulldogs from 1-9 in 2021 to 11-2 in 2023. He enters his third season at Godley, where he's led the Wildcats to a pair of playoff appearances."

Dudgeon has quickly established a winning culture at Godley ISD. During the 2025-26 school year, every Godley High School athletic program advanced to the postseason, marking a historic achievement for the district.

The recognition continues a string of statewide honors for Dudgeon. In 2025, he was one of just 60 finalists for the publication's Game-Changing Coach Award. The year before, his Clyde Bulldogs were recognized as the 2023 Class 3A Team of the Year and one of the most improved football programs in Texas.

Dudgeon's coaching experience includes serving as offensive coordinator at Abilene Cooper and offensive line coach at Breckenridge and Bastrop Cedar Creek. He also taught math at each of those schools.

In 2024, Dudgeon was selected to coach the Big Country Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star Football Game in Abilene.

An Abilene native, Dudgeon earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Howard Payne University, where he was a four-year offensive lineman for the Yellow Jackets.

"We're proud of Coach Dudgeon and grateful for the leadership he provides our coaches and student-athletes every day," Dear said. "This recognition reflects the respect he has earned across Texas and the bright future of Godley ISD athletics."
