Godley Ladycat softball player Cadence Chambliess earned All-State accolades from the Texas Sports Writers Association following the 2023 season.
Chambliess, a junior pitcher and shortstop, claimed a spot on the TSWA All-State first team among Class 4A players. The rising senior was also the District 10-4A most valuable player and shared MVP honors on the All-Johnson County superlative list.
According to the Cleburne Times-Review, at the plate, Chambliess boasted a .557 batting average, a .631 on-base percentage and an .814 slugging percentage with 46 RBIs, 40 runs scored and 17 extra-base hits. In the pitcher’s circle, Chambliess went 12-3 with 88 strikeouts against 14 walks in 96 1/3 innings pitched for a 4.28 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP.
As the District 10-4A champion following the regular season, the Ladycats advanced to the third round of the postseason with a bi-district win over Fort Worth Dunbar and an area victory over Celina. The Godley girls fell to Van Alstyne in the regional quarterfinal round.
