Godley High School senior Cate Heiner was recently named the 2023 Johnson County Junior Livestock Show Queen - a first in Godley FFA history.
As the show queen, Heiner will receive a $12,000 scholarship as well as an additional $1,000 scholarship for having the best application.
Serving as both Godley FFA president as well as Area VIII president, Heiner attended the 95th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis at the end of October.
Heiner recently competed at the state level in Leadership Development Events. The public relations team placed fifth in the FFA state contest after winning first at both the district and area level. She was also a member of the school’s state-qualifying public relations teams in earlier years.
Throughout her FFA years, the GHS senior has shown market rabbits, goats, swine and turkeys – winning Grand Champion Turkey at the Johnson County show in January 2022. Heiner was a member of the 2021 floriculture Career Development Events team, which won third place at the state and national levels in 2021. She previously launched a mentor program to help FFA members learn how to show market rabbits.
Among Heiner’s other school activities is serving as a varsity cheerleader.
