Nikki Nix

Nikki Nix, career and technical education director for Godley ISD, highlighted innovative programs at the Godley Chamber of Commerce board of directors meeting on September 14, 2022, at ASC Bank.

Godley High School currently offers classes in nine of 14 career clusters adopted by the Texas Education Agency:

  • Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources

  • Arts, AV Technology & Communications

  • Business, Marketing & Finance

  • Education & Training

  • Health Science

  • Human Services

  • Information Technology

  • Manufacturing

  • Transportation, Distribution & Logistics

There are numerous programs of study within each cluster.  In addition, students may participate in a variety of student organizations such as FFA, DECA, and HOSA.

As the school district continues construction on a four-story CTE center just north of the high school and football field, Nix plans ongoing development of age-appropriate programs for elementary and middle school students, capstone experiences that include student-led enterprises as well as internships, and certifications.

Nix is soliciting business people and community leaders to help with the CTE program by serving as a mentor, subject matter expert, guest speaker, mock interviewer, and in other programs to support students.  This will help grow the next generation of leaders and help Godley as the community grows and needs more highly-trained professionals.

With years of educational experience, Nix became the GISD director in July 2022 after working in Midlothian, Grand Prairie, Lake Dallas, Burleson, and Wichita Falls school districts.  While working in Burleson, she also was a dual enrollment teacher with Hill College.  Nix holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Midwestern State University and a master’s degree in educational technology leadership from Lamar University.  She is pursuing a doctorate degree through Arkansas State University and plans to graduate in December 2023.

Additional information about the CTE program is available on the district website at www.godleyisd.net/cte.
