From the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo:
A $10,000 scholarship was recently awarded to Nola Briscoe of Godley FFA by the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s Calf Scramble Scholarship Committee.
The daughter of Janell and Kevin Briscoe, Briscoe participated in the 2024 Fort Worth Stock Show Calf Scramble program making her eligible for the scholarship program. Forty-nine Texas 4-H and FFA members shared in $452,000 in Calf Scramble scholarship dollars.
Briscoe’s scholarship was the result of the hard work and dedication necessary for participants to complete the rigorous Calf Scramble program. The moment they caught a calf during a 2024 Stock Show rodeo performance their Calf Scramble journey began. These youth utilized Stock Show funds toward the purchase of a calf that they cared for in 2024. Her Charolais heifer project was sponsored by Mrs. Don Knobler of Dallas, Texas. Caring for their heifer, submitting monthly reports, exhibiting at the 2025 Fort Worth Livestock Show and submitting a final essay were required for scholarship consideration. Meeting in March, the committee awarded Briscoe her scholarship.
Sponsors for Briscoe’s scholarship include: Anjie and William Butler; Jim Eggleston; First Choice Transport; Bo French; Goosehead Insurance - Marcus Becerra & Cody Gladney; Margaret Ann and Ryan Millett; Lisa and Milton Millman; Amy and Shawn Myers; Oak Farms Dairy; Oliver Dyer’s Appliance; Shannon Parker; Pegasus Resources, LLC; Thompson and Lauren Purvis; R.
