Godley Wildcats won a Class 4A Division II area football championship after defeating Seminole 41-40 on November 17, 2022, at McMurry University’s Wilford Moore Stadium.
After a first-quarter deficit, Godley battled back to take a halftime lead of 27-26 after shutting down the explosive Indian offense in the second quarter. The defense held Seminole again in the third quarter, while the team expanded its lead to 41-26. As the Indians scored twice in the fourth quarter, a late missed field goal kept the Wildcats on top.
Godley advanced from bi-district round with a 27-6 victory over Midland Greenwood on November 11. For the third-round regional playoff, the Wildcats will face the winner of an area contest between Monahans and District 4-4A rival Ferris.
