January 14, 2026
Godley ISD Assistant Superintendent Jason Karnes opened the meeting at 4:15pm
Committee members were welcomed and shared points of pride regarding great things that are happening across the district
Karnes presented an enrollment comparison for January 2025 and January 2026
The committee was presented a school calendar for 2027-2028
- Committee members discussed the calendar in small groups and then gave their feedback to the whole group, including:
- Consideration of moving August 2nd to May 5th
- Don’t think this will work due to instructional day
- Consideration of moving a single day in the Spring to help with the long Spring haul
- Consideration of moving August 2nd to May 5th
Next, Karnes informed the group that the district is exploring a 4-day work week
- A sub-committee will be formed based on some campus level staff/parents from the DAC, as well as others not in the DAC
- More information to come from Dr. Block on invitations and dates
- At the earliest, it would be for the 2027-2028 school year
- Is there consideration for shortening the school day in lieu of the 4 day week
- This would extend the calendar to ensure we get the 75,600 minutes.
- Staggered bus times
The District Improvement Plan was presented by Dr. Nikki Nix
- There were no questions
Dr. Melissa Block asked for campus participation in the Employee Newsletter
- One member made a comment regarding surveys:
- Is there a way to look at changing some of the surveys so that they are not asking multiple questions?
Karnes adjourned the meeting at 4:50pm
