The Godley ISD District Educational Improvement Council (DEIC) met on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Godley High School.  Assistant Superintendent Jason Karnes started the meeting at 4:15 p.m. by highlighting Points of Pride from around the district.  

Karnes provided a quick update on a possible cell phone restriction. Presentations are being scheduled, and a survey is planned as well.

Regarding a recent district closure due to the flu and other illnesses.  Attendance has greatly improved since classes have resumed. Custodians did an incredible job with the deep cleaning of campuses during the shutdown. The closure was covered on regional and national news outlets. 

Karnes reviewed notable student achievements and upcoming events. 

Dr. Airemy Caudle, Chief Academic Officer, presented a draft Targeted Improvement Plan for R.B. Godley Elementary School, which is currently on the Comprehensive Support & Improvement list by the Texas Education Agency due to a scaled score with the Closing the Gaps domain among Title I schools. Caudle reported that the campus has improved dramatically over the past year, and the school could transition off the state list after this year.  Both Caudle and Principal Jodie Dickson explained the campus efforts to address requirements, including professional development, data dashboards, and coaching from the education service center. 

Karnes led a group discussion about how state accountability fits within the Community-Based Accountability System.

The committee reviewed future meeting dates:  Mar. 5 (public meeting/District Annual Report), and Apr. 2.

Karnes adjourned the meeting at 5:01 p.m.
