Enrolling Students New to Godley ISD

for all new Godley ISD students (all grades and campuses)

All students who are new to Godley ISD, regardless of grade level or campus, must complete the enrollment process before attending school.

Step 1: Create a Skyward Account

Parents or guardians who are new to Godley ISD must first create a Skyward Family Access account to obtain a username and password.

Step 2: Complete Online Enrollment

Complete the New Student Enrollment application online through Skyward Family Access.

A separate enrollment application must be completed for each student.

Step 3: Campus Enrollment Appointment

Campuses will contact the parent or guardian to schedule an appointment to complete the enrollment process.

Parents or guardians must bring the enrolling student and provide any required documents that were not submitted during the online enrollment process:

  • Parent/guardian driver's license or state-issued photo ID
  • Student's birth certificate
  • Student's immunization (shot) records
  • Student's Social Security card
  • Two current proofs of residency showing the parent or guardian's name and address (such as utility bills)
  • Most recent pay stub (required to determine eligibility for pre-kindergarten programs)
  • For students in grades 7–12: most recent report card or transcript and available state test scores

Enrollment is not considered complete until all required documentation has been submitted and verified.

What to Bring

Parents or guardians must bring the enrolling student and provide:

  • Parent/guardian driver’s license or state ID

  • Child’s birth certificate

  • Immunization (shot) records

  • Child’s Social Security card

  • Two proofs of residency (such as utility bills)

  • Most recent pay stub (required to determine PK eligibility)

  • For students in grades 7–12: most recent report card or transcript and available state test scores

Documents for Residency & Address Verification

New students (or those submitting a residency form with affidavit) must submit two (2) documents.  Returning students only need to submit one (1) document for annual verification.

All documents must contain the name of the individual with whom the student resides, and GISD must keep a copy of the document provided on file.

Please use one of the following documents to verify address and residency in GISD:

  • utility statement (including electric, water, natural gas, satellite TV, cable TV, or internet bill) dated within 30 days of the date of application

The district will collect address and residency documentation annually.

Texas Pre-Kindergarten Eligibility Guidelines

Texas law provides free pre-kindergarten for eligible four-year-old students who meet specific criteria, including limited English proficiency, economic disadvantage, homelessness, foster care status, military family status, certain first responder family circumstances, or being the child of a district employee.

Texas school districts offer pre-kindergarten for students who meet one of the requirements below:

  • unable to speak and comprehend English, limited-English proficient (LEP)
  • educationally disadvantaged (eligible to participate in the national free or reduced price lunch program)
  • homeless, regardless of the residence of the child, of either parent of the child, or of the child's guardian or other person having lawful control of the child;
  • child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; 
  • child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty;
  • in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing held as provided by Texas Family Code Section 262.201; or foster care in another state or territory, if the child resides in this state;
  • child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as a peace officer, firefighter, or first responder under Texas Government Code 3106 (injured or killed in the line of duty).
  • child of a person employed as a classroom teacher at a public primary or secondary school in the school district - Godley ISD has extended this to all full-time district employees.
